Treatment

  • Abdominal enlargement is not an unusual occurrence. It can be due to a simple increase in intra abdominal fat due to weight gain but this is only one cause.

  • Various types of medication are used for pregnancy termination (abortion) in female dogs.

  • Abscesses are one of the most common and difficult clinical problems in rabbits.

  • Canine haemorrhagic gastro enteritis, (HGE) is a very acute form of dysentery (bloody diarrhoea) usually combined with vomiting.

  • Almost all tumours of adipose tissue (fat) are slow-growing and benign. They are called lipomas. The tumours are usually permanently cured by full surgical removal.

  • Insulin, to stabilise diabetic pets, is the usual drug that has to be administered daily by owners.

  • Manufacturers of registered products for dogs have today made tremendous efforts to ensure that medicines are not only efficacious but also palatable.

  • The two adrenal glands are closely associated with the kidneys. Each has a central medulla (approximately one fifth of the total mass of the gland) which produces adrenaline, the so-called emergency hormone.

  • Anaemia describes a reduction in the amount of red blood cells in the circulation and is a relatively common problem in cats.

  • Anal furunculosis is also called perianal fistula or perianal sinus. It is a condition affecting the German Shepherd Dog more than any other breed in Australia.
